Professor, PhD, employed in the Faculty of Tourism and Recreation, Academy of Physical Education in Cracow, Head of the Chair of Tourist Policy. PhD in tourist policy conferred in 1991, habilitation dissertation in the field of the methodology of studying tourist activity as well as its tourist diversification defended in 2010. Both scientific degrees in physical cultural sciences. Studies at the Main School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw (economic studies – diploma work entitled ‘Tourism and recreation as an element of the tourist policy of the state’) as well as at Jagiellonian University (postgraduate pedagogical studies). Participation in numerous courses, trainings and specialist workshops in national and foreign institutions. Author of several innovative research methods, including SATT (Sequential Analysis of Tourist Trends), OMPN© (Methodological Imaging of Scientific Works) as well as TelSKART© (Telephone System of Cellular Analysis of Tourist Traffic) which bases on the utilization of the system of cellular phones to examine the size and structure of tourist traffic. Author of over 200 scientific publications on various aspects of tourism as well as author or co-author of eight books and textbooks (several of them with more than one edition), including: ‘Tourism in the face of the 21st century challenges’ (1999) which is one of the most frequently quoted Polish publications in the field of tourism in the whole history of research over this phenomenon (over 330 citations).
