Sustainability idea in African realities – seminar
Sustainable development is a concept that, in recent years, has dominated global debates about the future of our planet. Its principles are simple: economic growth should go hand in hand with environmental protection and social justice. However, in African realities, implementing the idea of sustainable development faces a number of specific challenges. It is those challenges that will become the focal point of the Sustainability Idea in African Realities seminar.
The event will take place on November 21, 2024, at 12:30 PM in Auditorium A2A at Vistula University.
The discussion will be moderated by Edip Senyurek, PhD, and the panel will include students and alumni from various African countries, including:
- Yassin Rauna from Tanzania,
- Ajibola Oshikoya from Nigeria,
- Mahamadou Toure from Mali,
- Shanaid Pillay from Zimbabwe,
- Elias Belachew from Ethiopia.
Despite numerous challenges, Africa has enormous potential to implement the goals of sustainable development. In recent years, many African countries have taken ambitious steps towards green transformation. Innovative projects combining digital technologies with ecological solutions are also emerging in many parts of Africa, providing hope for the creation of a modern, sustainable economy.
A comprehensive report on the seminar dedicated to the implementation of the idea of sustainable development in Africa will be presented during the Second International African Congress in Toruń, which will take place on February 19-21, 2025, under the theme The Importance of Africa in Reshaping the International Order. The Honorary Patron of the event will be Professor Wawrzyniec Konarski, Rector of Vistula University, who will be the guest of honor at the Congress.
