Counterintelligence in the 21st Century – Role, Tasks, Challenges
Vistula University is pleased to invite you to an engaging scientific debate focusing on the critical aspects of contemporary counterintelligence. This event, bringing together experts in national security, will take place on January 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, in Room A2A.
Counterintelligence plays a pivotal role in ensuring national security, safeguarding state interests, and addressing threats that are increasingly complex and dynamic.
This scientific debate at Vistula University offers an excellent opportunity to reflect on modern challenges and the role of counterintelligence in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment. Participants will explore the evolution of counterintelligence in the 21st century, with a particular focus on:
- New tasks faced by modern counterintelligence,
- Challenges for counterintelligence in a state neighboring a war zone,
- The interplay between current state policies and the responsibilities of counterintelligence services.
The discussion will be moderated by journalist Patrycjusz Wyżga and will feature the following distinguished speakers:
- Zbigniew Siemiątkowski, PhD,
- Prof. Stanisław Hoc, PhD,
- Anna Grabowska-Siwiec, PhD.
The debate will take its cue from the book “Counterintelligence and Power: From the Department II of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Counterintelligence Directorate of the Office for State Protection”, by Anna Grabowska-Siwiec, PhD.
Anna Grabowska-Siwiec, PhD is an expert in internal security and data analysis, as well as a retired major of the Counterintelligence Service of the Internal Security Agency (ABW), where she served from 2004 to 2020.
The event is addressed to students, academics, and all interested in national security and the functioning of counterintelligence services.
