Get ready. The changes are coming
Within a decade, artificial intelligence, robotics and automation will eliminate half of the jobs in the European market. Many jobs will disappear. At the same time, new and exciting opportunities will emerge and the demand for employees will grow rapidly in some areas. One of them is IT.
Sports or IT?
“IT is a very vast field. It has many branches and flavours,” – says Dariusz Drezno, consultant and trainer in the field of quality assurance, testing and technical communication. When he was taking his high school diploma years ago, he wondered whether to choose sports in his professional life. However, he chose IT and, as he stresses, he is not disappointed. He has managed international teams, and today he passes his knowledge and experience to young people at Vistula University, the most internationalized university in Poland.
Software testing and technical communication can be studied here at postgraduate study programs in a great environment. You don’t have to travel abroad to study with young people from all over the world.
There are a huge number of job offers waiting for testers. “It is definitely an employee’s market,” says Dariusz Drezno. “The development opportunities are enormous,” he adds. It’s also very easy to move from testing to programming, business analysis, quality assurance or training. Testing is still one of the faster ways to enter the IT world.

Software Testing as a practical route leading to the world of IT
There is a shortage of hundreds of thousands of programmers in Europe. The best of them earn up to PLN 800 per hour. However, they must have the support of testers who are also paid dearly. The manufacturers of products that surround us would be in big trouble without them.
All devices – from a food processor, through washing machines, cars, planes or satellites – consist of hardware and software. For the product to be reliable, the software should run flawlessly. You always have to test it, because not testing it can cause a disaster. This is the job of testers.
“Curiosity, the ability to communicate effectively, including constructive criticism, are the basics of this profession,” emphasizes Dariusz Drezno. “Accuracy, diligence, paying attention to details are also very useful and can be trained” – he adds.

Technical communication tops the list, i.e., a humanist in IT
Many people dream of a career in IT, but not all have a technical background. Does that close the door for them? Not at all. An example would be a technical documentation specialist for whom communication and knowledge of foreign languages are key skills. Engineers who have a good command of language and like to pass on knowledge as well as people who graduated in language studies and whou are passionate about new technologies find themselves easily in the world of technical communication.
It is also the job of the future. Technical communication is an area that is becoming more and more popular on the market. It deals with translating difficult, technical knowledge into a language that is understandable to every user. This information can take many forms – technical specifications and user manuals, infographics, instructional videos and e-learning trainings.
